Blood Donation Camp, Mizoram University,2019

Blood donation camp was organized in 11th October 2019 at the auditorium, Mizoram University. It was organized by the Students Council of Mizoram University in collaboration with National Service Scheme, red ribbon club and HDFC Bank. The day started with a pledge taking ceremony, organized for the first time in continuation of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birthday anniversary, where all the heads of academic and administrative, along with all the students brought their own water bottle in support of the initiation taken by plastic free campus coordination of Mizoram University in their campaign to make Mizoram University free of one time /single used plastic bags and package drinking water. FILM FESTIVAL AT MIZORAM

The Mizoram International Documentary Film Festival was held between 16th and 18th Oct,2019 Organised by FILMS DIVISION in collaboration with Directorate of Information & Public Relation Govt Of Mizoram . This successful event was attended by the dept of mass communication,MZU and IIMC along with film experts and interested audiences. A number of documentary films were displayed for audience in this festival. The makers of these documentary films were present and a Masterclass was also presented giving us helpful information about filming documentary.

Public Lecture on "What's the matter with Orality: The Poetics of Mizo Nationalism in Northeast India

 Media, Culture and Society,Department of Mass Communication, Mizoram University organized a Public lecture on 21st October 2019 with Dr. Roluahpuia Department of Humanities and Social Sciences from Indian Institute of Technology and his lecture was on "What’s the matter with Orality:  The Poetics of Mizo Nationalism in Northeast India".  The lecture was on the Mizo National Movement and the importance and the power of Poetics during the insurgency period for the MIzo's to this day. He talks about identity, nationalism and development of the Mizo’s in which literature and poetics played a very important role. Workshop on Public Relation

          The department of Mass Communication, Mizoram University in Collaboration with IIMC(Indian Institute of mass Communication) , Aizawl Campus Organized an invited Lecture titled "Career Opportunities in Public Relations Sector" on 26th September, 2019. Mr. Nurul Islam Laskar, a PR Consultant & Motivational Speaker was the resource Person. He gave an insightful lively lectures on Advertising and Public Relations. He also deliberated on the need to hone the leadership qualities and emphasised on the necessity of character building. The 3rd Guwahati International Film Festival(GIFF).2019

The3 rd semester students and scholars from the Department of Mass Communication, Mizoram University attended the 3 rd Guwahati International Film Festival at Guwahati, Assam. MASS COMMUNICATION SCHOLARS WON SINGING COMPETITION ORGANISED BY HINDI CELL

On 9 th November 2019, the Hindi Cell organised a group singing competition in which the many departments of Mizoram University (MZU) took part and participated. The competition was held in the Guest House of MZU, among all the other groups of different departments participating.   The Department of Mass Communications were able to rise on top with their vibrant voices and beautiful singing skills as they bagged the first position with the song called ‘Pelhu nazar mein’. Their chemistry in delivering the beautiful message of the song truly spoke volume among the audiences and they were truly the winners without a doubt. Among many who appreciated the singing of the Mass Communication Department, the judges too were impressed by the performance and were pleased with the sweet melody and harmonic sound of the Department of Mass Communications. “NORTH-EAST YOUTH CONCLAVE” organized by Department of Mass Comunication and Journalism, Tezpur Univeristy, in collaboration with Ghandi Smiriti & Dar Shan Samiti was held at Tezpur University, Assam on 6 th to 8 th September 2019.   The Theme of Youth Conclave Program was – “Role of the Youth in contributing towards a culture of peace and non-violence” which focused on empowering youth to participate in peace building and non-violence movement in North-east India. The program was attended by different Universities from the North East Regions of India including our very own PhD and Phil Scholars  of Mass Communication Department and  Sociology Department, Mizoram University.
