MASS COMMUNICATION PH.D SCHOLARS PARTICIPATED IN “NORTH-EAST YOUTH CONCLAVE” AT TEZPUR UNIVERSITY

“NORTH-EAST YOUTH CONCLAVE” organized by Department of Mass Comunication and Journalism, Tezpur Univeristy, in collaboration with Ghandi Smiriti & Dar Shan Samiti was held at Tezpur University, Assam on 6 th to 8 th September 2019.   The Theme of Youth Conclave Program was – “Role of the Youth in contributing towards a culture of peace and non-violence” which focused on empowering youth to participate in peace building and non-violence movement in North-east India. The program was attended by different Universities from the North East Regions of India including our very own PhD and Phil Scholars  of Mass Communication Department and  Sociology Department, Mizoram University. Field visit to Doordarshan Kendra, Aizawl

On 4 th September 2019, the third semester students of the Department of Mass Communication, Mizoram University had a field visit to Doordarshan Kendra, Aizawl. It is   Government owned Broadcasting Service that is located in Durtlang, Aizawl. The Broadcasting Service have different programme ranging from demanding songs by public audiences which include Mizo and English songs to various programs related Health, Cultural enrichment, Environmental awareness, Women empowerment, Educational program   for Children and about Childeren, Agriculture, Weather forecast, Commercial, and live programmes and News. The news are broadcasted on the schedule time of 3:00 p.m , 5:00 p.m and 6.30 p.m, and the 6:30 p.m news is repeated on 8:45 p.m. The students under the guidance of Sir. FRESHER’S SOCIAL 2019

Fresher’s social is held every year in Mizoram University it has become a custom for all the students to have Mr and Miss fresher every year. The participants were newcomers from various departments selecting two participants to represent their department. On 9 th September 2019,Mizoram university held the Fresher’s social and in this programme the student took a pledge on plastic free campus. The Vice Chancellor Prof KRS SambasivaRao gave a speech where he mentioned that MZU will provide more than just academics but also setup incubation centres that will pave way for young entrepreneurs to achieve their aim and goals and also play a vital role in creating an impact in the economic growth of Mizoram. He also mentioned that there will be opening of new departments and adding new facilities, new buses will be provided, new buildings are constructed for hostel and more buildings will be constructed in the near future. Teacher’s Day was celebrated at Mass Communication Department, Mizoram University.

Every year Teachers Day celebrations  are held in India on 5 th  September and this year Teachers Day was also observed by Mizoram University, Aizawl. It was celebrated by different departments including the department of Mass Communication, Mizoram University. Teachers Day celebration was organised by the 1 st and 3 rd semester students of Mass Communication Department, and the celebration were began at 1:30 pm. The programme was lead off with Bible reading and prayer by Sarah Malsawmtluangi of   3 rd Semester and it was followed by special items from both 3 rd semester students i.e Vanlalhruaizela and his entertaining Magic show and Lallawmzuala with his amazing number. .After these programmes there was a group singing from 1 st semester. World Photography Day with Joe Joseph

On the occasion of World Photography Day, the Department of Mass Communication organized an open forum as part of Media, Culture and Society Lecture series on the 19 th of August, 2019. Mr Joe Joseph, a professional wedding photographer from Aizawl was the resource person. He spoke on the need to master the photography medium rather than being mastered by the medium. He highlighted the philosophical dimensions of photography and why professional ethics and values is needed to be upheld within the cultural framework of the society where the photographer works. He talk about community which can be established by sharing and learning and also provided tips for the upcoming photographers by showing the scope for entrepreneurship in photography. FIELD VISIT TO MEDIA HOUSE, VANGLAINI

On August 29 th , 2019 The 1 st semester students from the Department of Mass Communication, Mizoram University visited Vanglaini, Main Office, Durtlang under the guidance of Sir Andrew Lalchhandama . Vanglaini is one of the most leading newspaper in Mizoram, and the 1 st semester students had an interaction with the Newspaper Editor and staffs. They were hosted by the Joint Editor Lalnghinglova Hmar  and they also had the privilege to interact with the founder and Editor in Chief   Mr. K.Sapdanga.             The field visit began with an interaction with Tetea hmar.
