World Photography Day with Joe Joseph





On the occasion of World Photography Day, the Department of Mass Communication organized an open forum as part of Media, Culture and Society Lecture series on the 19th of August, 2019.
Mr Joe Joseph, a professional wedding photographer from Aizawl was the resource person. He spoke on the need to master the photography medium rather than being mastered by the medium. He highlighted the philosophical dimensions of photography and why professional ethics and values is needed to be upheld within the cultural framework of the society where the photographer works. He talk about community which can be established by sharing and learning and also provided tips for the upcoming photographers by showing the scope for entrepreneurship in photography.
The students of the Department of Mass Communication, Mizoram university and Indian Institute of Mass Communication ( IIMC), Aizawl campus participated and interacted in the workshop. Mr LR Sailo, the director of IIMC, Aizawl had presented a good and rare collection of many photography magazines to the Department of Mass Communication library.
