MASS COMMUNICATION SCHOLARS WON SINGING COMPETITION ORGANISED BY HINDI CELL


On 9th November 2019, the Hindi Cell organised a group singing competition in which the many departments of Mizoram University (MZU) took part and participated. The competition was held in the Guest House of MZU, among all the other groups of different departments participating.
 The Department of Mass Communications were able to rise on top with their vibrant voices and beautiful singing skills as they bagged the first position with the song called ‘Pelhu nazar mein’. Their chemistry in delivering the beautiful message of the song truly spoke volume among the audiences and they were truly the winners without a doubt. Among many who appreciated the singing of the Mass Communication Department, the judges too were impressed by the performance and were pleased with the sweet melody and harmonic sound of the Department of Mass Communications. Many departments took active role and the prizes were distributed in the Administrative Conference Hall and the winners, the Department of Mass Communications were also requested to sing again. Overall the program was a huge success and MZU got to discover many new talents and at the same time promote Hindi and the use of the language through the program

Technological impact on language usage among the youth (How language usage in personal space is slipping over formal space)

- C. Laldinfeli Social Media have shortened the usage of our sentences and words because of limit of spaces. We try to reflect our thoughts, ideas and opinions with the least number of characters. For instance, Twitter allows us to share views and opinions within the limit of 140 characters which compels us to become more concise and to get our messages to other users with a limited number of letters. Thus the use of abbreviations, acronyms as well as neologisms (newly coined words) become popular and at the same time considered to be fit in our today’s world of technology.
